Ethereum developers plan to launch the Pectra upgrade of the network in March 2025 and set specific milestones ahead of the mainnet fork. After coordination with the client side software team, a new client side for the upgrade and hard fork for Ethereum test networks Sepolia and Holesky is expected to be released in February, according to a core developer conference call held on Thursday. If the fork on the testnet goes as planned, the mainnet will be launched next month.
Optimism developers plan to introduce interoperability between various Layer 2 blockchains in the ecosystem, including OP Mainnet, Zora, Base, and others, including providing a messaging protocol, a common token standard (SuperchainERC20), and an error-proof system for secure asset transfers.
